FINANCE COMMISSION

The Financial Commission is charged with the fiscal planning, budgeting and supervision of accounts throughout the Diocese. It is made up of the Treasury, Land and Building Committees.

The Treasury committee: It looks after all the assets of the Diocese. It operates money-generating projects in view of self-reliance in the Diocese. These projects include: Farming at Kamwozi and Ssennyange, forestry at Kitamba and Naddagala, houses for rent, transport, shops for hardware and stationary, a canteen and St. Joseph's printery at Kitovu, Butende brick works and Butende carpentry workshop.

The treasury committee controls items of expenditure and works closely with other Diocesan offices and commissions to set up fiscal policies relevant to the prevailing economic realities in the Diocese and in the country at large. It appeals to Parishes to support the Diocese through church tithe and Bishop's Annual Appeal Fund (BAAFU). Some specific Sunday and feast days collections and special fund raising activities are also organized. Through such activities, the Christians contribute enormously to the running of their Diocese.

The Treasury committee also assists Parish financial committees to establish money-generating projects for the Parish and to control money flow. The Parishes are expected to do the same for the sub-parishes.

The Building Committee: It is in charge of all building constructions intended for pastoral purposes in the Diocese. It approves building plans, provides technical advice and makes a follow-up of all the church buildings under construction or renovation. It also ensures that each Parish has a site plan.

The Diocesan Land Committee: It is charged with the responsibility of supervising all church land and to ensure its proper use for church related duties. It secures land-titles and helps in the acquisition of new land for educational, agricultural, charitable and other pastoral purposes. It settles all cases related with land disputes.
