The Education Commission comprises of the following committees: Administration, Religious education, Inspectorate, Masaka Catholic Diocesan institutions and Teachers Association. These committees work under the leadership of the Diocesan Education Board of Directors for the promotion and maintenance of education standards throughout the Diocese. In each Parish, there is a Parish Education Committee working under the supervision of the Fr-in-charge of Schools.
The Diocesan Education Board of Directors is a management body charged with the responsibility of planning and development of education activities in the Diocese. It approves periodically the education development plans for the Diocese, and through its higher education committee, plans the training of personnel in view of staffing specialized posts in the Diocese that require advanced training.
The Management committee: The education Commission headed by the Education Secretary is charged with the responsibility of administration, planning, implementation of education plans, supervising and identifying suitable managers for Diocesan founded institutions.
The Inspectorate headed by the Diocesan Inspector of schools is charged with the responsibility to see to it that schools offer quality education, bear the Catholic character, implement both the government and Diocesan policies, besides collecting the necessary education statistical data and identifying the meritorious teachers and students for award of prizes.
The Religious Education committee: The religious education department headed by the Religious Education Advisor is responsible for the teaching of religious education in schools. Supervising all schools to ensure the required standards of religious and moral values, conducts retreats and other related activities for the spiritual formation and growth of students and teachers.
Every year, the Diocesan Education office organizes an education week in July. A theme relating education to the church mission in the Diocese is chosen. Each school through competitions in music, poetry, drama, Bible reading and essay writing develops this theme. The competitions start from the Parish through the Deanery and finally to the Diocese for the most outstanding schools. During that week, all schools in the Diocese are also inspected by teams formed on the Parish level; sometimes in collaboration with the local Ministry of education officials. The parents, teachers and children are all involved in the education week.
The Parish education committee is responsible for education development in the Parish. It operates under the supervision of the Father in charge of education in the Parish.
The Catholic Diocesan institutions and Teachers? Association (MACADITA): It is charged with the responsibility of mobilizing Catholic teachers in appreciating the need to improve on their well being as Catholics, the education standard and the education institutions in which they work.
